Engineered block and natural stone retaining walls for Hickory homes, from sloped backyards to Lake Hickory shoreline lots. Drained properly and built to stay straight.
A lot of Hickory backyards fall away from the house, and the clay underneath holds water. Both of those decide how a wall has to be built here.
A wall or two turns a yard you can barely mow into level lawn, a patio pad or a play area, with steps tying the levels together.
Wet clay pushes hard on a wall. We backfill with clean gravel, wrap it in fabric and run drain pipe to daylight so pressure never builds.
On lots that run down to the water we terrace the bank in stages, which is stronger and better looking than one tall wall.

Engineered systems such as Allan Block, built for strength and long-term stability.
Fieldstone and dry-stack stone walls that blend into the landscape.
Terraced walls that turn a steep slope into usable levels.
Gravel backfill, fabric and drain pipe behind every wall.
Walls and grading that stop a hillside from washing out.
Low walls that add seating and frame planting beds.
It depends on the height. Walls over 4 feet require a building permit in Catawba County, and we handle the engineering and paperwork as part of the job. Shorter garden and seat walls usually do not need one.
Segmental block retaining walls typically run $25 to $50 per square foot installed, and natural stone runs higher. Height, length, access and drainage all affect the price. For a quick ballpark, try our free online Cost Estimator, then contact us for a firm quote after a site visit.
Yes. Poor drainage is the main reason walls fail. Every wall we build includes gravel backfill, drainage fabric and perforated pipe where needed, so water pressure never builds up behind it.
